What is a Mentor?

A mentor is an adult dedicated to supporting and encouraging a young person. By dedicating just two hours a month, a mentor can significantly impact a child's life by helping them build confidence and self-esteem, establish values, set goals, and improve their skills.

Why Become a Talented Teen Club Mentor?

Becoming a Talented Teen Club mentor is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young person's life. Here are some reasons to consider joining us:

  1. Empower Youth: Help young people discover their talents, build self-esteem, and develop the confidence to achieve their goals.
  2. Give Back to the Community: Invest in your community's future leaders to contribute to its growth and development.
  3. Personal Growth: You will gain a sense of fulfillment and personal satisfaction from positively impacting a young person's life.
  4. Develop New Skills: Enhance your leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills through mentoring experiences.
  5. Build Lasting Relationships: Form meaningful connections with mentees and other mentors, creating a supportive network.
  6. Support a Worthy Cause: Join a dedicated team that provides valuable resources and opportunities for at-risk youth.

By dedicating just a few hours each month, you can play a crucial role in shaping a young person's future and helping them reach their full potential.

Where & When Does Mentoring Occur?

Mentoring group sessions last 20 to 45 minutes twice monthly and are held at the library or selected middle and high school after-school programs near your home or workplace. The TTC staff, mentor, and mentees arrange the days and times of the sessions based on their schedules. All mentors have a one-year commitment.

How Do I Become a Mentor?

Talented Teen Club (TTC) mentors learn the principles and guidelines of community and after-school group talent-focused mentoring. They participate in an orientation session, receive a manual containing tools for addressing their students' general needs, and receive ongoing training.
